Most people in the St. Mary’s Academy community know Niki Brooks as a member of our Physical Education and Health Department, but they will soon get to know her as Head Lacrosse Coach when she takes on this new role in the spring. Niki, an accomplished high school and college athlete herself, understands the importance that athletics play in nurturing the whole person and is dedicated to empowering our students.
As an engineer, Michelle Warner '09 has worked on a variety of creative and innovative projects, including developing a patent for a wagon canopy at Radio Flyer and designing a dress that uses LED lights to light up when you spin.

Many say that the young women of St. Mary’s Academy are natural born leaders. For freshmen Emma Francioch, Hanna Stokes and Lily Buckenmeyer, their leadership journey began in middle school. Although these young women have just completed their first semester at St. Mary’s, they are already community advocates and accomplished authors of the vegetarian cookbook “Saving Pan.”
During our MLK Day assembly, we listened to SMA students passionately speak up and speak out, just as Dr. King suggested, to be judged not by the color of their skin, but the content of their character. We heard stories and statements to educate, inspire and ignite courageous conversations.
