Online Classes:

Health 2 | 10th-12th grade

This online course explores a variety of current health topics, such as self-defense, the skeletal system, HIV and AIDS, public health, and emergency response. CPR/AED and First Aid certification must be obtained outside of this course at an additional cost. SMA students earn 0.5 credit. All students must attend a mandatory orientation in order to enroll in this course. This informational meeting will be held on June 12th after the 6th block final in room 211. Students unable to attend this mandatory informational meeting must schedule another time during finals week to meet with the instructor.

Other Requirements: Class is open to St. Mary's Academy students only. Students must have access to a computer and the Internet on a regular, ongoing basis throughout the summer to complete and submit assignments.

American Government | 11th-12th grade

The final exam must be taken between August 26-30.

This online course examines the formal institutions of government, emphasizing the process of government. SMA students earn 0.5 credit. All students must attend a 15-minute mandatory orientation in order to enroll in this course. Two orientation sessions will be offered after the last final of the day on June 10th and 11th in room 203. Students unable to attend one of these sessions must schedule another time during finals week to meet with the instructor.

Ready, Set, Go! Classes

Algebra 1 | 9th grade

Session 1: August 5-15, Monday-Thursday 10am-11:30am

Session 2: August 5-15, Monday-Thursday 12pm-1:30pm

If a student has been recommended for this class and was awarded financial aid, we will offer the same prorated assistance for this class.

This course is for students who need a stronger Pre-Algebra base before moving into high school Algebra. The course will cover simplifying expressions, solving equations, problem solving, using tables and graphing, as well as miscellaneous topics.

Note: This course is not intended for students going into Accelerated

Algebra and will not change placement for the 2019 -20 school year.

English 9 | 9th grade

Students will solidify their language arts skills as they develop and re-new study skills necessary for success in English 9. The course will work with the summer reading text, incorporating reading and questioning techniques. Students will also explore elements of revision and vocabulary strategies. This class will focus on critical reading and study skills, and is not primarily a writing class.

Spanish 1.5 | 9th grade

This course will cover basics from Spanish 1 and prepare students for further Spanish study. SMA students who qualify and complete the course satisfactorily will, upon the teacher’s recommendation, be enrolled in Spanish 2 in the fall semester.
