Junior College Night is Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. This evening program offers juniors and parents insight into several aspects of the college planning process. The program will consist of workshops on topics relating to college planning and applications; parents and students often divide up topics of interest and attend varying sessions for maximum coverage. Guest speakers from several local colleges and universities will be present along with the St. Mary’s college counseling team. In the past, workshop sessions have included topics such as:
- Researching and Selecting a College
- Understanding the College Admissions Process: How Colleges Choose?
- Making Sense of Financial Aid
- The Parent Role
- Writing the College Essay
Spring break and three-day weekends are ideal for visiting colleges to learn about locations, academic programs, and campus life. For hints about planning college visits, check out the College Visits and Interviews section of the St. Mary’s College Counseling Handbook. It is available on each student’s iPad and in the document’s library section of Naviance.
