St. Mary’s Theatre Presents The Broadway Hit – Something Rotten!

The theatre department continues its annual musical tradition with our upcoming production of Something Rotten!  This original musical pays homage to both the classics (Shakespeare) and the beloved musical! Book by Karey Kirkpatrick & John O’Farrell with music and lyrics by Wayne Kirkpatrick & Karey Kirkpatrick, Something Rotten! tells the story of the Bottom Brothers, rival writers of the famous Shakespeare, who are looking for the next big show to put them on the top! One of the brothers, Nick, becomes desperate and seeks the advice of soothsayer Nostradamus who tells him the next big thing is … a musical! Nostradamus doesn’t always see the future quite clearly and also tells Nick Shakespeare’s next big play is “Omelet.” Despite the absurdity, Nick tries to create, stage, and produce the musical “Omelet” and hilarity ensues.

Filled with catchy songs, plenty of dance, and very funny lyrics, Something Rotten! feels like a love letter to the musical art form with a little bit of Shakespeare mixed in.

Directed by Shannon More, musical direction by Kathy Briggs, Technical Direction by Demetri Pavlatos, and choreographed by Jessica Zoller.
