Taking the number three spot in the OSAA's Three River League standings and number eight overall in the state are the girls of St. Mary's Varsity Soccer team. Thanks to early wins, including a knock off of the undefeated Tigard team last week, the girls have much to celebrate this early in the season. It also happens to be the first season under new head coach, Rochelle Hearns, but she has no hesitation when it comes to giving credit where she thinks it's due. "The girls on the team are great. They are very coachable and committed to success."
At St. Mary's Academy, student safety is and always will be our number one priority. And, as we've shared previously, a Student Safety Task Force (SSTF) was convened last spring to help ensure SMA adopts and implements best practices to ensure safety for all students across five key areas: social, spiritual, intellectual, physical and emotional. The task force is being led by consultant Tanya Young Stump, and since its inception, the team has been hard at work across a number of key areas that we are excited to share with you.
This year seven alumnae stepped forward to chair the annual St. Mary's Academy Food For Thought fundraising luncheon, driven by the knowledge that there are many other classes of alumnae who, like them, are 1. Proud of the way St Mary's empowers young women with a STEM education, 2. Grateful for the STEM education they received at SMA, even if they ultimately didn't chose it as a career, 3. Credit St. Mary's with planting a seed that inspired them to pursue careers in STEM and 4. Want SMA to continue to thrive for their daughters and others like them.
