Student Groups & Programs

UNITE Day

UNITE Day is an annual event in which students offer workshops to their peers about diversity, equity and inclusion topics. Workshops are well researched and cover topics from red lining to environmental justice to intersectional feminism. The peer to peer exchange creates a one of a kind space for students to learn and connect.

Justice Week

Justice Week, which includes UNITE Day, is a week of special events created by students for the St. Mary’s community. We pause our normal weekly programming to create art for justice, watch and discuss movies about justice, host speakers who do justice work, etc. Justice Week student leaders also host a special assembly to kick off Justice Week.

Women of Color in Action (WOCA)

Women of Color in Action (WOCA) works to foster an understanding of racial justice and equity throughout the SMA community from the perspective of students of color. WOCA promotes togetherness, learning and growth through education, open discussions, mentoring and activities.

Student Equity Team

Student Equity Team tackles systemic change by creating events and fostering opportunities for discussion around equity and inclusion. The student equity team also partners with the Adult Equity Team and Women of Color in Action to insure equity within the SMA community.

Land Acknowledgement

Let us acknowledge, with humility, that the land upon which St. Mary's Academy is located is the native home to the First Nations who make their homes along the Columbia and Willamette Rivers.  Let us be aware that we occupy their homeland, that their presence is imbued in this land and their legacy is all around us.  We offer respectful recognition of the Indigenous communities in our country today and to those who have stewarded this land throughout the generations.
