Writing Assessment

For applicants to the 2021-2022 school year, St. Mary's will not require the High School Placement Test (HSPT) for an admissions application. In these uncertain times we feel flexibility, and reduction of stress and expense for families going through the admissions process to be important.

St. Mary's will require a 15-minute writing assessment, proctored online. This unscored writing sample provides the admission committee with a feel for prospective student written communication skills and overall thought organization.

Writing samples will be shared with other area high schools. Likewise, if you have taken a writing assessment at one of the other Portland-area Catholic high schools, your writing will be shared with St. Mary's to fulfill this requirement.

St. Mary's will offer the writing assessment on the following dates:

Tuesday, December 8 | 4:00pm
Wednesday, December 16 | 4:00pm
Monday, January 25 | 4:00pm
