Upcoming Productions

Each year, St. Mary's Academy Theatre Department showcases multiple productions. We begin the year with a freshman-only production, put on a fall play, followed by the spring musical, and then end the year with our One Acts Festival. Led by Theatre Director, Shannon More, and assisted by Demetri Pavlatos. 

Pride and Prejudice: The Pemberley Paper (Fall 2026)

An original adaptation based on the well-loved novel (and movies) by Jane Austen.

Showtimes:

• Saturday, October 3rd at 3 p.m.

Pride and Prejudice:  The Bennet family is comprised of a Father, a Mother, and five daughters - all of whom live on an estate that is entailed to the next living male relative upon the Father's death. The entailment creates a somewhat urgent need for the girls to find a good marriage match - and soon - lest they all be kicked out of their home should their father die. Set in a somewhat altered Regency Era, the story centers around Elizabeth who, despite the need to find a good marriage match, is determined to only marry for ‘love.’ Her principles, and pride, are tested many times as she is offered opportunities for a suitable match even if there is no love or respect to be found within. Will Elizabeth find a match that is suitable enough for her to say ‘yes’? What might change her mind?

The Pemberley Paper: Three college students are assigned a group paper (yes, this is a thing) on the novel Pride and Prejudice and each student has selected one section of the book to write ten pages on the themes found within. On this day, the students are meeting to compile their sections, polish their writing, and turn the paper in on time. It does not take long for the students to realize that they have each focused on different themes within the book and they must now find a way to put it all together. With a major scholarship on the line the students scramble and rush to write a worthy paper and turn it in before the strict deadline.   

Our Adaptation: As the students write and re-write their paper, the audience will see the action of the story come alive on stage. Centering the storylines and voices of the Bennet sisters, their mother, and the women who shape the events, our production features lively dialogue and direct addresses to the audience to help us along. Complete with dynamic characters, beautiful costumes and a country dance or two, we hope you will join us for our show!
