Fall Athletic Options
SMA Cross Country coaches have posted options for any student interested in participating in cross country conditioning and training opportunities this fall. Activities include virtual sessions along with tracking of activity to motivate runners to stick with training. Students participating in the online portion of the activities only need to contact Head Coach Charles Douglas to be included in receiving team communications. The Path Forward training program for students is posted on the SMA Cross Country webpage.
Students participating during Season 1 in cross country team activities will soon have the option to also attend in-person workouts with the SMA cross country coaches following safety protocols. All students participating in the in-person activities will need to complete all eligibility requirements prior to the first in-person session. Stay tuned for more information about upcoming in-person cross country sessions and contact Coach Douglas if you are not already included in the 2020 SMA Cross Country Remind communications.
Head Coach Rochelle Hearns is holding optional in-person soccer conditioning and skill sessions for all interested SMA students. The in-person sessions are held Fridays from 2:30-3:45/4 pm at Buckman Field beginning Oct. 16 and running through Nov. 20.
In order to participate, students must complete school eligibility requirements prior to their first session. Participation is completely optional and will have no bearing on team selection this coming winter in Season 3, the OSAA competitive soccer season.
The SMA students interested in participating in volleyball have several options during Season 1 this fall. Since mid-September they have been offering a hybrid virtual/in-person program, complete with a workout tracking challenge and virtual player interactive sessions. With a focus on conditioning, the in-person workouts at Buckman Field are held Fridays from 5:30 – 6:30 pm through November 20, weather permitting. Students participating in Season 1 in-person SMA athletic activities must complete the school eligibility requirements prior to their first session.
SMA students still interested in participating should contact Head Coach Kelsey Eby for more information. Participation in completely optional and will have no bearing on team selection this coming winter in Season 3, the OSAA competitive volleyball season.
