Merit-based Scholarships

The Virginia Mathews Scholars Program commends ten (10) students on their exemplary achievement in the areas of Academic Excellence and Leadership and Service. These scholarship awards are not based on financial need.

Scholarship applicants must submit scholarship essays by January 27, 2020 for full consideration. Recipients will be notified by mail on March 12, 2020. Virginia Mathews Academic Scholars

Students must qualify to apply for the Virginia Mathews Academic Scholars Program by placing in the 90th percentile nationally on the High School Placement Test. Five (5) scholarships in the amount of $2,500 are non-renewable and will be applied toward freshman year tuition.

How to Apply:

  1. Complete the admissions application, meeting all deadlines.
  2. Take the High School Placement Test in December and earn a score within the 90th percentile nationally.
  3. Complete the Virginia Mathews Academic Scholars online application found in the Admissions Portal, by January 27.
  4. Request a recommendation from a current teacher using the Virginia Mathews Recommendation form, found in the Admissions Portal. This recommendation must be received by January 27. Please request your recommendation as soon as possible, in order to give your teacher adequate time to complete



Virginia Mathews Service and Leadership Scholars

All students who have displayed a commitment and dedication to service and leadership in their school, church or community are invited to apply. Five (5) scholarships in the amount of $2,500 are non-renewable and will be applied toward freshman year tuition.

How to Apply

  1. Complete the admissions application, meeting all deadlines.
  2. Complete the Virginia Mathews Leadership and Service online application found in the Admissions Portal, by January 27.
  3. Request a recommendation from a current teacher using the Virginia Mathews Recommendation form, found in the Admissions Portal. This recommendation must be received by January 27. Please request your recommendation as soon as possible, in order to give your teacher adequate time to complete
