A nationally recognized school of excellence, St. Mary's Academy is a Catholic all-girls college preparatory high school dedicated to the development of the whole person, mind, body and spirit. Started by the Sisters of Holy Names in 1859, St. Mary’s maintains a strong commitment to enrolling students from diverse economic, ethnic, racial and social backgrounds. As part of this commitment, the school offers several forms of tuition assistance for families.
Financial Aid is a grant (not a loan) and does not need to be re-paid. All awards are based upon a family's demonstrated financial need. St. Mary's encourages all families who feel that they will need assistance in meeting the cost of tuition to apply for financial aid. Often families will ask for guidelines to help determine if they will be eligible for aid. However, each family's circumstances are unique and generate a response that is appropriate only for them.
Through the assistance of generous donors, SMA is able to offer numerous need-based endowed scholarships. In order to be considered, families must apply and meet all deadlines for financial aid and submit an additional scholarship application.
The Virginia Mathews Scholars Program was established to support students who show exemplary achievement in the areas of Academic Excellence and Leadership and Service. These scholarship awards are not based on financial need. Each year, SMA commends ten students a $2,500 award, which is applied toward freshman year tuition and is non-renewable.
2019-2020 tuition: $15,995
The actual cost to educate each student is $21,295. St. Mary's maintains an unparalleled commitment to access, and SMA covers the $5,300 subsidy provided to each student through fundraising efforts including our annual giving campaign, Auction, Food for Thought luncheon, student fundraiser and grant writing. This assures that tuition can remain affordable for families who seek a St. Mary's Academy education.
