Escribe Maria, the student-run literary and visual arts magazine of St. Mary’s Academy, was established in 2000 to create an annual showcase for student writers and artists. As Oregon’s oldest, continuously operating school, St. Mary’s serves 668 students with a faculty of 51. The magazine serves to empower young artists and writers and bring their creative work to the wider St. Mary’s community. Staff positions for Escribe Maria are open to any interested student, from freshmen to seniors. This volunteer staff selects pieces based on original voice or vision, technique, theme, and appeal. The staff meets regularly throughout the year during weekly lunch sessions, learning fundamental skills in advertising, judging, elements of design, proofreading, layout, and marketing.
All pre-orders will be available for pickup at SMA in late May. You will receive an email notification when the issue is ready!
