SMA Ambassadors Hit the Road for Blues on Tour
SMA Ambassadors and Admissions team hit the road for another successful Blues on Tour program. We visited 24 local Catholic middle schools, meeting nearly 1,000 prospective students to introduce them to the magic of St. Mary’s Academy.
Our goal is to ensure that every student gets a taste of our fantastic resources, exciting campus updates, and SMA-mazing school spirit, and a personal invitation to our upcoming Open House on October 15th!
The heart of the Blues on Tour program is the St. Mary’s Ambassador cohort. Six Ambassadors attended each presentation and brought their poise, professionalism, and contagious love for St. Mary’s to each school. They also led the presentation themselves and worked hard to ensure they could connect with and engage each student they met. They held small-group sessions where they introduced themselves to each student, shared their SMA experience, and answered any and all questions that students raised. This made the SMA presentation especially impactful – our team heard feedback again and again from teachers that their students were more engaged with St. Mary’s because of our Ambassadors’ central role. This engagement is tangible – St. Mary’s received a huge influx of shadow visit requests after each visit. Well done, Ambassadors! Our Admissions team overseeing our Ambassadors are new additions to the Admissions team this year – Mary Whitaker ’16 and Kara D’Ascenzo ’18. Mary and Kara are thrilled to be back at SMA and were eager to hit the ground running and lead Blues on Tour.
This experience was impactful to the Ambassadors as well. Sophomore Ambassador and St. Agatha alumna Willa R. said, “I had so much fun visiting my old teachers and being able to share my experience at SMA with other younger students. Choosing a high school is an important decision and I’m so glad we get to visit other schools and talk about SMA!” Senior Ambassador and Holy Cross alumna Monet M. echoed a similar statement, saying that, “One of my favorite parts about BOT is that I get to go back to middle school and share my love of SMA with my younger peers. I feel as if we can connect because of our shared experiences and I loved getting to talk about SMA and hopefully help them decide where they see themselves in the upcoming years.”
St. Mary’s is lucky to have such an amazing Ambassador group. Their excitement for and devotion to SMA is incredible to see!
Finally, Blues on Tour was a wonderful chance to build community with our Catholic neighbors. Not only did we nurture our connections with our Catholic community, we also honored our Catholic tradition by spreading the Sisters’ message and our charism to a new audience. Our charism is central to both life at St. Mary’s and our impact within our greater community. Our charism accordingly guides our Blues on Tour program as we strive to attract St. Mary’s next generation of compassionate, justice-driven, and inspiring leaders.
