The St. Mary's Fund

 

The St. Mary’s Fund plays an essential role in funding what is special about a St. Mary’s Academy education and is made up of yearly gifts from parents, alumnae, grandparents, faculty, staff and friends of St. Mary’s Academy.  It is the primary source of support to bridge the gap between the cost of educating students and tuition revenue.  Because gifts to the St. Mary’s Fund are unrestricted, they can be immediately directed wherever they are most needed, such as academic programs, the Blues athletic teams, fine and performing arts, technology for teaching and learning, and co-curricular activities.

Gifts to the St. Mary’s Fund helps offer bright, talented young women the opportunity to receive a college-preparatory education of the highest quality and supports what makes a St. Mary’s education unique and a St. Mary’s student extraordinary. 

Every gift is essential to the success of the school. Thanks to the participation of more than 2,300 alumnae, parents and friends, St. Mary’s Academy received $625,000 to the 2009-10 annual campaign.  The St. Mary’s Fund is the backbone of fiscal health for the school, providing support for the areas of greatest need and the never-ending need for increased tuition assistance.

Five excellent reasons to support the St. Mary’s Fund

  1. Your donation improves the quality of education each student receives and helps prepare the next generation of St. Mary’s Academy alumnae.  Annual Giving donations are applied across the budget to help fund tuition assistance, attract and retain faculty, support athletics, visual and performing arts, and extracurricular activities.  It helps maintain our inviting, safe and historic facility, as well as funds continuing education for teachers.
  2. Tuition and fees do not cover the true cost of a St. Mary’s education. Annual Giving is vitally important as it helps close the gap between tuition and the real cost of educating a student at St. Mary’s Academy.
  3. Our students benefit from a legacy of generosity. More than 42% of students at St. Mary’s Academy receive tuition assistance, totaling nearly $1 million dollars annually.  Donors to Annual Giving recognize their gift helps provide the opportunity for a St. Mary’s education to young women who otherwise may not be able to attend.
  4. Contributions are tax-deductible. A donation helps St. Mary’s Academy, and an individual's total tax liability can be reduced with a contribution.
  5. Every bit helps. Corporations and foundations often look to the number of donors, including alumnae participation, in choosing the level at which they will support St. Mary’s Academy. So, your gift can actually spur additional gifts.
