Student Fundraisers Fundraisers

Blues Making Miracles
Sometimes known as a second Spirit Week, this week of fundraising is held every spring to benefit Doernbecher Children's Hospital. Meticulously planned by a committee of hardworking students, this week always makes for fun philanthropy. The girls have annual "Penny Wars," with money being raised in a competition between classes. Other fun activities include relay races, dress-up days, and karaoke contests. This week combines friendly inter-class competition (the winning class is crowned "Princesses for a Day") with the desire to help a great cause, the kids at Doernbecher Children's Hospital.

Sister Shawn Marie Barry Drive
Once a year, St. Mary's students collect funds and goods to contribute to worthy causes in honor of Sr. Shawn Marie Barry. Sr. Shawn, a Sister of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, served St. Mary's over many years in varied positions ranging from college counselor to vice principal and principal. Outside of St. Mary's, Sr. Shawn touched many lives through her work and her desire to help Portland's disadvantaged. Though Sister Shawn died in 1995, her legacy of humor, compassion, and commitment to service continues through the work of today's St. Mary's students.

Lee National Denim Day®
As participants in the world's largest single-day fundraiser for breast cancer, Lee National Denim Day®, students, faculty, and staff wear denim to school in exchange for a $5 donation to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. This annual event is held each October and is sponsored by the Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) Club. Participants receive a pink breast cancer awareness ribbon and a lollipop, and are invited to place their name and the name of someone they would like to celebrate or remember on a paper hand showing that one hand at a time can make a difference.
