We were just notified by the Tri-Met Mall Project contactor that water work will start on SW Market at 5th and 6th avenues on Tuesday, Feb. 27 and last for at least one month. During this work, SW Market will be reduced to one travel lane (utilizing the streetcar track lane). The project will be reducing traffic on Market at SW 12th to one lane and encouraging traffic onto SW 12th as a detour route.
We apologize for the late notice -- apparently this work has been accelerated to meet project schedule demands.
If possible, we would recommend that parents and staff look for alternative routes. One through eastbound lane on Market with a right hand turn onto SW 5th will be maintained, but will most likely be very congested.
