National Honors Awarded to Oregon’s Top Girl’s High School Lacrosse Players

             

2007 US Lacrosse National Girl’s High School Awards

 

The Oregon Chapter, US Lacrosse Association and the Oregon Girls Lacrosse Association (OGLA) are pleased to announce the 2007 US Lacrosse National Girls’ High School All-American, Honorable Mention and Academic All-American nominees for Oregon.

 

The All-American status is awarded to players who exhibit superior skills and techniques, exceptional game sense, good sportsmanship and knowledge of the game of lacrosse. The following players have been recognized nationally for their lacrosse skills as well as for their leadership and contributions both on and off the field.  Candidate selection is made by the All-American Selection Committee with representatives from OWLUA, OR Chapter US Lacrosse  and OGLA.

 

2006 US Lacrosse National Girls’ High School All-Americans:

 

  • Claire Draudt, graduating from Lincoln HS and coached by Tucker Pierson, plans to attend Colorado College, Fall 2007.  Honors include Honorable Mention All-American 2006; Oregon Elite Team 2005, 2006; NW Regional Team 2005, 2006; 1st Team All-State 2005, 2006; Team Captain 2007.
  • Katie O’Donnell, graduating from St. Mary’s Academy and coached by Holly Ziegler will attend Robert Morris University, Fall 2007.  Awards include Honorable Mention All-American 2006; Oregon Elite Team 2004, 2005, 2006; NW Regional Team 2005, 2006; 1st Team All-State 2006, 2007; Team Captain 2007.
  • Sally Roberts, a rising senior at St. Mary’s Academy is coached by Holly Ziegler. Recognition includes NW Regional Team 2005, 2007; Oregon Elite Team, 2005, 2006; 1st Team All-State, 2005, 2007.

 

Honorable Mention All-Americans:

 

  • Jacqueline Reece, will attend the University of Portland, Fall 2007 and is coached by Lauren Anderson and Amy Einstein at Lake Oswego HSHonors include Oregon Elite Team, 2006; 1st Team All-State 2006, 2007; Team Captain 2007. 
  • Catherine Davidson, a rising senior from St. Mary’s Academy is coached by Holly Ziegler. Recognition includes NW Regional Team 2006, 2007, Oregon Elite Team 2006, 2007 and 1st Team All state 2006, 2007.

Oregon’s Elite Team travels nationally each summer and fall to offer top players competitive action against top teams from across the nation.  Oregon girls participating on the NW Regional Team join with Washington state players to compete in the National High School Tournament at Lehigh University each Memorial Day week-end.  Senior high school girls are ineligible for either team, which focus on developing players for collegiate play.

 

Academic All-Americans:

 

These twenty-one (21) Oregon high school junior and senior women have achieved Academic All- Americans status from US Lacrosse. Recipients are starters or significant contributors to their varsity lacrosse teams, have earned a weighted GPA of 3.6 or higher with over 50% of classes at Advanced Placement, Honors or International Baccalaureate level, and have made significant contributions to their schools and/or communities outside of athletics.  Players with multiple year Academic All-American awards are shown in italic.

All nominations for All-American, Honorable Mention All-American and Academic All-American awards were submitted and confirmed by US Lacrosse.  Nominees in all categories will be recognized locally and nationally by US Lacrosse associations and will receive certificates for their achievements.

 

The Oregon Chapter of US Lacrosse and the Oregon Girl’s Lacrosse Association (OGLA) are proud of the outstanding achievements of these players.  Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in America and Oregon is quickly gaining recognition for both girl’s and boy’s high school teams.  Oregon girl’s lacrosse has 28 varsity teams playing across the state with new varsity teams expected to enter the field for the 2008 season.  Middle school teams continue to build the base of strong players fueling the explosion of talented high school players.
