Innovation and student life leaders bring new energy to St. Mary’s Academy
New talent and roles are adding to the vibrant growth of St. Mary’s Academy this summer. The all-girls’ Catholic, college-preparatory high school, located in downtown Portland, welcomes former St. Mary’s English teacher Nicole Foran as assistant principal of student life and Shawn Daley into the newly created director of innovation role. St. Mary's instructors present and learn at the ISTE conference
St. Mary’s Academy was well represented at the 2015 International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) conference in Philadelphia last week. Technology director Brette Doyle, English teacher and instructional tech coach Alyssa Tormala and English teacher Ellie Gilbert where among the more than 15,700 other technology and education professionals to participate in the national conference, attending lectures from educators, students, authors, and journalists. Staff shift in the volleyball program
After three seasons of supporting the SMA volleyball program as varsity head coach, Laura Humphrey has decided to step down to focus on her job as an elementary school teacher and her family. She will stay on as club director for Blues Volleyball Club. We are pleased to announce that former varsity coach assistant Jen Wagner has been promoted head coach, bringing a strong background as a former collegiate player, high school and club coach!
