St. Mary's Academy students and alumnae to adopt over 40 families this Christmas.
The long standing annual tradition of providing Christmas baskets to families in our community supports the core values of our founders, the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. Our Campus Ministry department works with various service organizations to support families in need. Maura Timoney '09, our Student Service Coordinator, assigns each TA a family to adopt in late November. Our Alumnae Council also receives two separate families to adopt and recruits alumnae to participate. A student or teacher from each TA reaches out to their family to find out their greatest needs. This usually includes food, household items and gifts for each member of the family. Over the course of a few weeks, items are collected by students, parents and teachers. Each TA has a party where gifts are wrapped and baskets assembled. This year, Christmas baskets will be delivered on Thursday, December 15. If you would like to see a wish list for families or would like to participate in delivering the baskets, please contact Annie Diess at firstname.lastname@example.org or Maura Timoney '09 at email@example.com.
