2005 Recipients

Margaret Graziano, SNJM '34
Outstanding Service to Community, Sister Shawn Marie Barry Award
Sr. Margaret was an elementary music and art teacher for 40 years, who also taught art therapy in prisons. She is a prison chaplain and volunteer coordinator at the Lane County Adult Corrections Center. She has earned public recognition for her generosity of service through various awards, including Human Concern Award (1994), E.R. Cass Award (2002); and Catholic Community Service of Lane County (2004).

Margaret Kaiser, M.D. '70
Woman of Achievement in Science, Medical, Technology or Engineering
Dr. Kaiser is an extraordinary family practice physician in rural Maryland, who still makes house calls and cares for the elderly. Her service and achievements were featured in People magazine.

Patricia Thompson '71
Excellence in Teaching or Educational Administration
Former SMA principal, and current principal of Madison High School, Pat has been involved in numerous organizations, including Oregon Association of Curriculum Development, Confederation of Schools Association and Northwest Women in Education (NWE). She served as president of NWE for several years. She also serves on several ad hoc committees for the Portland Public Schools.

Mary (Alunkal) Khetani '96
Extraordinary Contemporary Alumna
Mary is a pediatric occupational therapist, and works in early intervention with medically fragile infants and toddlers to create and provide productive daily living solutions for these special patients. Selected to be a Vivian Weinstein Child Advocacy Fellow at the UCLA School of Public Health, Mary also participates in statewide policy efforts to lobby for the California Mental Health Initiative. She will begin a doctorate program next fall on human development and social policy. Additionally, Mary is dedicated to her Indian culture through her participation as a company dancer with the Rangoli Dance Company in Los Angeles.
