Scholarships

With the help of generous donors who are committed to ensuring access to St. Mary's Academy to today's young women and tomorrow's leaders, we are pleased to offer financial need-based scholarships to our applying candidates for the Class of 2022.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • She must be an incoming freshman at St. Mary's Academy, qualify for admission, and have taken the High School Placement Test at one of the local Catholic schools.
  • Her family must demonstrate a need for financial assistance to attend St. Mary’s Academy. A financial aid application must be filed with FACTS by January 12, 2018. This is a mandatory step for the scholarship application process and must be completed by the January 12 deadline. The FACTS application will not be shared with the scholarship committee.

How to Apply

1. Submit an application for financial aid with FACTS by January 12, 2018. Click here for more information and to apply online.

2. Complete the online Class of 2022 Scholarship Application by January 26, 2018. The Office of Admissions must receive your application by January 26 to be considered.

Selection Process

All applications are reviewed by the St. Mary's Academy Scholarship Committee. Applicants will be notified by mail on March 15, 2018. Please contact the Office of Admissions at 503-721-7725 with questions.

Virginia Mathews Scholars Program

The Virginia Mathews Scholars Program commends ten (10) students on their exemplary achievement in the areas of Academic Excellence and Leadership and Service. These scholarships are not based on financial need. The $2,500 awards are non-renewable and will be applied toward freshman year tuition.

Virginia Mathews Academic Scholars

  • Five (5) scholarships in the amount of $2,500 are non-renewable and will be applied toward freshman year tuition.
  • Students must qualify to apply to the Virginia Mathews Academic Scholars Program by placing in the 90th percentile nationally on the High School Placement Test.
  • The Office of Admissions will send personal invitations to eligible candidates once test scores are received.
  • Completed applications and teacher recommendations are due January 26, 2018.

How to Apply

1. Submit an online application for admission to St. Mary’s Academy for the 2018-2019 school year by the January 12, 2018 deadline.

2. Register and take the High School Placement Test in December at one of the local Catholic high schools and earn a score within the 90th percentile nationally. You will receive an invitation to apply once scores have been received by the Office of Admissions, typically in January.

3. Click here for the Virginia Mathews Academic Scholars online application. Scholarship applications must be received by the Office of Admissions by January 26, 2018 to be considered.

4. Request a recommendation from a current teacher. Click here to access the recommendation form to send to your recommending teacher. This recommendation must be received by the Office of Admissions by January 26, 2018. Please request your recommendation as soon as possible, in order to give your teacher adequate time to complete your recommendation.

Virginia Mathews Leadership and Service Scholars

  • Five (5) scholarships in the amount of $2,500 are non-renewable and will be applied toward freshman year tuition.
  • All students who have displayed a commitment and dedication to service and leadership in their school, church or community are invited to apply.
  • Completed applications and teacher recommendations are due January 26, 2018.
