Join our celebrations!
On October 21, 1859, 12 Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJMs) disembarked from a sternwheeler in Portland, Oregon. Within three weeks, they opened St. Mary’s Academy (SMA), now the oldest continually-operating private school in Oregon. Since this first mission outside Quebec, Canada, the Sisters, their Associates and Ministries and SMA have continued their legacy worldwide.
